I will be mounting a shipboard type 41' loaded vertical on top of a phone pole that is over (fresh) water about 30' from shore. I am thinking of using insulated #12 wires run along the lakebed with weights on the radial lines to help keep them in place. Would this be any advantage over a large metal plate for a ground for this type of installation? Primary use will be 160 meters. The water has lots of Iron Ore type bottom so electrolysis eats metals after awhile. Ideas?
