Ralph, thanks for your interesting response. My question was more than academic since I am currently experimenting with a 15M version of the Super-C. I have had several successful two-way contacts at distances of 1500-2500 miles with a transmitter output of about 2.5W and the antenna from two to seven feet above ground. As measured with an Autek RF-1 the 2:1 SWR bandwidth is on the order of 400 Khz, much broader than I had anticipated. Comparative testing is planned for the near future using a full size vertical ground plane as reference. One of my key questions at this stage is whether the Super-C is merely an unusual configuration of a shortened dipole or whether some "plus" factor is operating. I am finding this antenna fun to work with and recommend it to anyone wanting (as I did) to "get your experimental feet wet."
