I made some comparisons between a much smaller CFA than was described or has been built on 40 meters. I used an inverted V and the CFA was only 7 inches tall and with a diameter of 5 inches. Disk diameter was 9 inches. Within 20 miles the two antennas were equal. from 90 miles on out the V was stronger but more directional than the CFA. The CFA had reports that were in the range of S7-S9 consistantly, whih no QSB. This was in ALL directions whereas the V showed some directivity. I Did get a 10 over 9 from one ham about 200 miles away on the CFA and 15/9 on the V. The CFA was in the house not more than 2 ft. from where I am sitting now. It was NOT optimized at all. I don't have a calibrated F.S.meter, but sure wish I did.
