Hi Bob. I haven't had a chance to model your loop, but I suspect a couple of things are happening. <><><> First, when you break the loop, the device becomes an unbalanced doublet, and the Radiation angle may likely drop somewhat. Second, since the doublet is assymetrical, the vertical portion of the feedline is now unbalanced, and you are receiving/transmitting off of the transmission line as well as off of the doublet. That would also lower the radiation angle.<><><> After Mother's Day. I'll try to model this.
