Hakan <><><> Thanks again. I'd seen that site some time ago. My interpretation may be summed up as follows: 20 metres isn't much of a test for a compact antenna mounted on a pole one metre above a roof....there will be reradiation from capacitative coupling to the metal parts of the roof and support structure and feed. If one considers what he has to do to get lively behaviour from this antenna which he describes as "quiet", it is consistent with re-radiation mechanisms; there is still no evidence for the mechanism claimed by Mr Hately. As Alan B has pointed out, low efficiency QSO contacts are to be expected with almost any compact antenna structure if it is carefully tuned. What is in doubt is its efficiency as a transmitting antenna. <><><> What I wanted was some NEW information about how to make the thing work as Hately suggested. I have never seen any evidence of this, either in the sites I've visited, or in the tests we did here at Surrey. Experimental work is very important in this area, and we seem to have a great many reports of failures but scarcely any reports of success, other than as an inefficient communicator. So over to the inventors; tell us what to do next please. <><><> Regards, and in hope,.......David Jefferies.
