George, you are correct. Jef and I had a forum discussion on this subject a while back while trying to understand why/how a dual loop could have an impedance that was much higher than that of a single loop. The math is straightforward, but the forum doesn't lend itself to equations.<><><><> Suffice it to say that you need two essentially identical tuned circuits. One will be tuned high and the other low. The + reactance of one cancels the - reactance of the other. What is left is a REAL impedance that can be much higher than the Radiation resistance of either one.<><><><> I second david's request. I would also welcome some exact dimensions of Dr. Hately's antenna, so we could all try it out. I have looked at the patent(s) but find the info is not sufficient to build something that might be subject to mis-interpretation. (If it didn't work.) 73 Bill KT4YE
