When Maxwell published his paper in 1865, it contained (I believe) some 20 equations in 20 unknowns. The mathematics he used was apparently quite complex, and was understood by only a handful of mathematicians at the time. After his death, Heaviside (and others?) simplified the equations into their present form.<><><><><>In the course of simplification it has been stated (by everyone from noted researchers to "free energy" crackpots <a not necessarily mutually exclusive set>) that many important elements were deleted. <><><><><> Has anyone in this forum actually studied Maxwell's original formulae? Did you understand them? Has something been lost in the translation? 73 Bill
