Well Taworri, I'm going to have to disagree with you on the prestige explanation. As a user of cell technology myself, I would say that most users of cellular phones use them first for convenience and second because they are usually only slightly more expensive per month than the service offered by the local telco (Qwest). In my home town (Grand Forks, ND), one line of service with caller-id and call waiting will cost you around 32.00/mo. On the other hand, a decent plan with my local digital carrier which offers free long distance as well as the "frills" previously mentioned will run around 39.00/mo. The ability to establish communication almost instantly is worth the extra few bucks. Sorry for the rant, but I hear the "he just wants to look cool with his cell phone" explanation WAY too often.
