Bill - most people using displacement currents do so unconsciously, so you are not alone. . . There is no "classical proof" for displacement currents, the idea was postulated (not proved) by Maxwell and used as an essential item in his famous prediction of radio waves, which we all now have discovered is true. That's why displacement currents exist, because without them you would have to find another explanation for radio waves, and nobody can do that, not even Ivor Cattt. . . . I did not say a uniform E-field is essential for a displacement current to exist. Wherever there is a changing E-field, there is a displacement current. There is no mystery about capacitor antennas, they have been used for a long time and they work as expected. . Best regards, Alan
