Hi David, Based on your(reasonable) assumptions wrt power radiated from mobile phones, the localized field strength in the vicinity of the head exceeds 40V/m. When you consider that the currently recommended (interim) maximum field strength limit for human exposure is 60 to 65V/m, it is very obvious that there is a significant risk to "passive" and actual phone users. I refuse to own and use these devices and I constantly advice relatives and associates of the dangers. I always maintain a safe distance by skirt around people when they are actually using these devices and request that they keep them well away from me when not in use due to their regular polling contact with the cell towers. On this point, I still shudder when I see people with these things strapped around their waists day-in, day-out. The sad thing is that these devices are almost never used for important communications and are basically an expensive toy that people own for personal prestige. They fail to see that when all of their peers also own them, presige value falls to zero and that they've just become gullible consumers that pay a big unnecessary bill every month!!
