Hello Bill and interested others.

A brief report of measurements on a network analyser of the fundamental resonance of a 7.5 cm wire dipole, with 1mm, 1.5mm, and 3mm thick dielectric sleeving.

3mm thick sleeving reduces the resonance from 1868MHz to 1823MHz. This thickness is lambda/50, or 2% of a wavelength about. The relative dielectric constant of the sleeve is believed to be between 4 and 5. The perturbation in resonant frequency is a depression of about 2.4%.

Error here is plus or minus 5MHz in resonances.

regards

David Jefferies.

Hope to write this up as antenneX regular article later on with more detail.
