Hi David.

The "Langford Smith" reference is Fourth edition Chapter 22 subsection (iii) Reactive Component of Impedance (In particular see final para of (iii) for reference to top loading wires).

Subsection (iv) Characteristic impedance of aerial (This subsection is also required).

FYI, other enquires have just resulted in someone informing me that "Terman, Radio Engineers Handbook " quotes capacitance of a disc in free space as being 0.992pF per inch diameter. Unfortunately I don't have that book but I thought you'd be interested.

It is understood and obvious that this capacitance does not include capacitance between

1. the monopole and the disc, 2. The disc and ground or other nearby objects. 3. the diameter of the monopole.

This result is useful to me.

Regardless David, I am still intersted in any information, confirmation or observations you have to offer on this matter.

Thankyou.
