I am trying to biuld an adcock Direction finding recieve antenna for 1.2GHz. This is basicly two dipoles connected together in an H configuration. the ooutputs from both antennas are connected to a toriod and then to the reciever. a diagram can be found here http://members.aol.com/BmgEngInc/Adcock.html
my problem is using antenna array theory, when two dioles are connected with a distaces of 1/2 a wavelength between them, the signals received should be out of phase and so in the middle of the radiation pattern, there should be a null. But this is not the case with this antenna. Does any one know why, I am completely lost. any help will be great. thanks
