BROADBANDER BB3 ALL-BAND, MOBILE ANTENNA
The BROADBANDER BB3 is an all band (10 thru 80 meters and all frequencies between) motorized antenna that will tune all bands at the flip of a switch. No more adjusting stingers or changing loading coils to switch from one band to another. Once properly installed, all band coverage is as easy as flipping a switch. Even tunes all MARS and CAP HF frequencies.
The antenna is built with a motor driven center loading coil. The coil slides up and down inside a copper tube as you move up and down in frequency. Top whip may be any length you choose. When using a 63 inch whip, the antenna will work on ten meters as a quarter wave vertical antenna and as a loaded vertical on all the other bands. Many users choose to operate with a longer whip to increase their signal on the lower bands.

The BROADBANDER BB3 may be used on mobile homes, RV's and even as a fixed antenna. Users report excellent results with the antenna mounted on small steel buildings in mobile home parks. The antenna may be operated as an inverted "L" if whip height is a problem such as mirror mounts on large trucks. Truckers report excellent results using a 90 to 100 inch wire coming from the top of the antenna and tied back. | ![]() |
The BROADBANDER BB3 is built tough using hard drawn low
loss copper tubing in the high current area of the antenna. The loading coil is designed
with Hi-Q making it extremely efficient. The coil wire is hard drawn and will not become
loose in operation.
The heart of the BROADBANDER BB3 is its beryllium copper finger stock
which is soldered into the copper tubing for low loss with 68 fingers making contact with
the coil. A short (less than a quarter-wave) antenna presents a very lowinputimpedance.
The BROADBANDER BB3 comes with a transmission line transformer providing
the proper match to the antenna. The motor which raises and lowers the coil is mounted
inside the copper tubing. A shielded cable comes out the bottom of the antenna to control
the motor. A DPDT switch and a push button are used to control the direction and operation
of the motor.
The BROADBANDER BB3 antenna also uses a sleeved bushing for the coil to
ride on. This allows smooth tuning while in motion and prevents hanging up and sticking. A
160 meter accessory coil option is available for converting the BB3 to a monoband 160
meter mobile antenna.
